The Build Log #1 - January 2026 Edition
Welcome to the first edition of The Build Log!
This is a new monthly update where I'll share what I've been working on, the releases that have shipped, exciting milestones, what's coming next, and more.
Let's dive into what happened this month!
Releases
This month, 4 releases have been launched:
- SEO in Next.js v1.0.0: introduced as a formal library, rather than a collection of files, with various components and utilities to generate everything from sitemap.xml and llms.txt to JSON-LD and more.
- Starlight Page Actions v0.4.0: introduced internationalization of plugin texts for multiple languages and made changes to achieve cleaner generated markdown that LLMs can process better, using fewer tokens.
- Starlight UI Tweaks v0.2.1: fixed a minor bug where the year in the footer was not updating correctly.
- SEO in Astro v1.0.0-beta.0: introduced as a formal library, rather than a collection of files, with an integration for Astro that generates robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and llms.txt.
Fun facts
- Starlight Page Actions is being used in the documentation of Aspire, a Microsoft project.
What's Next
Here's everything you can expect for next month:
- SEO in Astro: I'll continue working toward the official release of version 1.0. At least two beta releases will be launched this month with components and tooling.
- Starlight Page Actions: it will reach version 0.5, and for this version I'll focus on achieving cleaner generated markdown that LLMs can process better, using fewer tokens. I started this work in version 0.4 and plan to complete it in this one.
- Experiment: this month, Vercel introduced skills.sh and I'll build a skill to work with SEO in Next.js. If all goes well, in the near future I'll create skills for all my projects.
- Article: I'll write a post about why I use Starlight for my documentation, the entire journey I went through to choose it, the alternatives I tried, and more.
That's a wrap for this first edition of The Build Log.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you, both current and past supporters, for your trust and encouragement.
See you next month with more updates!
